Summary DescriptionThe Pine School is seeking a proactive, positive, and passionate person to assist in coaching our Varsity Girls Basketball Team during the winter basketball season. The assistant coach will report direclty to the head coach and assist the varsity teach. - Working with a collaborative athletic department and head coach, the assistant coach will receive support to communicate, plan, and execute a successful girls basketball program.
Duties and Responsibilities--- Help plan and execute daily practice after school.--- Help coordinate and communicate weekly practices and games in collaboration with the head coach.--- Supervise students off-campus as needed for games while positively representing The Pine School tothe larger community.--- Lead the team and program with a commitment to nurturing student-athletes, taking advantage ofthe opportunities to build character and confidence through sport.--- Work through time to build success with the School's girls basketball program.
Professional QualificationsStrong candidates will have experience playing basketball at a highly competitive level and will havepreviously worked as a coach. Experience building a program would be highly beneficial. Organizationalstrength is also a necessity. Most importantly, The Pine School is eager to hire a coach who enjoys workingwith high school students and supporting student-athletes in a college-preparatory educational environment.

School HistoryThe Pine School was founded in 1969. The school was first called The Pine School under the leadership ofMr. Harold Potsdam, its founder. In 1975 the school changed its name to St. Michael's School and a Boardof Trustees were appointed. It was at this time that St. Michael's became a non-profit day school with anEpiscopal affiliation. In 1994, the Board of Trustees renamed the school St. Michael's Independent School,ending the Episcopal affiliation, while retaining all of the same internal procedures and traditions. In Julyin 2006, the school officially returned to its original name, The Pine School.
General InformationThe Pine School is a college preparatory, all-faith day school that serves students from Kindergartenthrough grade 12. The Pine School provides a strong traditional core curriculum while striving to instill highachievement and a lifelong love for learning. The school's objective is to develop each student's intellectual,physical, and creative talents in a supportive and moral environment. Students are encouraged to promoteservice above self and are inspired to develop a sense of commitment and involvement within theircommunity.
In K-4, small class sizes and a challenging curriculum enable students to learn important academic skills in anurturing and caring environment.
