JOBThe Information Technology Public Safety Specialist will us a customer focused approach to primarily work with the Police and Fire Rescue Departments of the Town of Palm Beach, Florida. They will serve as the primary IT support and liaison personnel for the public safety departments by responding to questions and resolving problems related to a variety of department specific applications, hardware, 3rd party services, and communications systems. This includes performing technical evaluation, installation, maintenance, system administration, and support for a variety of systems, including the systems in all the public safety vehicles. This position will help guide the technology for the Town's public safety departments by identifying gaps in technology and processes; help find?solutions; and facilitate the implementation of those solutions through collaboration and partnerships with the various departments, vendors, and consultants. This role will also provide technical training to public safety personnel when needed. Strong communication and people skills are a must to be successful in this role. Due to the nature of the departments this role will primarily support, the ability to handle many projects simultaneously and work under pressure is critical for success. This individual must be a critical?and creative?thinker who works well independently, but more importantly, is a dedicated team?player. This position will work closely with other IT Personnel to provide complete and comprehensive IT support for the Town of Palm Beach. EXAMPLE OF DUTIESBe the proactive IT liaison and technical support specialist for the public safety departments, Police and Fire Rescue. Maintain and support essential public safety IT systems, including desktops, servers, security tools, applications, email, and peripheral hardware devices, including systems in all public safety vehicles. Work closely with vendors to support and maintain public safety video and communication systems. Meet with decision makers, stake holders, systems owners, and end users to help define business and operational?requirements of the public safety departments. Assist in the creation and maintenance of documentation as needed to facilitate planning, budget, scope, design, implementation, and close out of projects.? Responsible for helping to keep projects within budget, scope, and timeline.? Hold vendors, and consultants accountable to?agreed?upon project parameters. Research departments' issues and projects that may require technology resources.? Conduct research on software and hardware as needed to maintain operational efficiencies. Assist in the research of existing?processes and workflows and help improve and document them. Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas.? Ability to work in confined spaces such as police and fire rescue vehicles. All other duties as assigned.? MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA Bachelor's degree in computer technology or a related field5 years' experience in IT Support, Administration, and Operations. Excellent interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships The ability to be on-call Prior experience supporting public safety departments is a plus Must be able to pass a criminal background check in order to support the Police department in this role. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATIONExtensive knowledge of computing technologies (Servers, Desktops, Office 365, Active Directory) Demonstrated communication skills in both oral and written form. Discerning ability to act independently and collaboratively across the organization.Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.Ability to work in a dynamic and agile environment.Ability to work flexible work hours (After hours and on-call when necessary).Technical acuity Business acumen LeadershipProject ManagementSystem Administration Interpersonal skills Vendor management Cross-departmental liaison Strategic planning Process analysis and improvementExperience with CAD, Mobile Device Terminals, License Plate Recognition systems, communications, and video surveillance systems, and CJIS policies and procedures are a plus.
