Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Protection Responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining current Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards and requirements as they pertain to the facility (or training equipment - depending upon position).

Responsible for documenting all regulated OSHA and EPA inspections according to the required records.

Responsible for inspecting facilities for compliance with EPA and OSHA guidelines and reporting findings to the Manager/Supervisor, FTD, either verbally or through written communication.

Responsible for inspections (i.e. Fire Extinguishers, sprinkler systems, etc.) and record keeping of weekly and monthly HVAC System, as needed.

Building Maintenance Activities:

Plan, organize, direct, monitor and coordinate all building maintenance actions and activities of the Facility Technicians, Attendants, and Custodians.

Ensure that fire codes and fire prevention system are always in compliance with city and state codes.

Ensure that building codes are always in compliance.

Facility Activities


Inspect grounds and arrange for policing of areas, particularly outside smoking areas, as needed; act as liaison with landscaping contractors, as needed.


Maintain building by performing the following:

Routine painting, Routine plumbing, Routine electrical wiring, Routine HVAC repairs (Note: See Qualifications Requirements - Certifications), And other routine related maintenance activities

Inspect common areas (hallways, reception area, break room, kitchens) during daily work routine for any discrepancies in cleaning done by outside contractors.

Perform general maintenance of office furniture; assemble new purchases of office equipment/furniture; move and arrange office equipment/furniture, as needed.

Clean and sanitize, or arrange for those activities, for all restroom and kitchen areas, including refrigerators, disposals, icemakers, sinks and microwaves.

Documentation/Reports Activities:

Maintain service records on all major equipment, such as HVAC and keep records available for auditing.

Purchase building maintenance supplies and pick up from supplier, when necessary.

Maintain current mechanical and electrical schematic drawings of the building.

Teamwork - Internal & External Activities:

Notify Manager, FTD and/or Center Manager concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment, structure of building, and any major work or repair to landscaping or property.

Coordinate budget requirements for facility upkeep and assist managers in development of yearly budget.

Act as liaison/coordinator during bid process for any outside providers of special maintenance needs.

Interact with landscaping/lawn care contractors regarding maintenance of Center grounds, as needed.

Direct activities of designated staff to ensure building preventive maintenance tasks are done as scheduled.

Coordinate with facility staff on workloads, shifts and other support functions.

Interact with Customer Support (CS) Manager regarding safety issues and Workers Compensation issues.

Daily Responsibilities:

Maintain FlightSafety International's commitment to Customer satisfaction while performing job duties.

Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance.

Report, on a timely basis, any safety hazards observed in work area, equipment, and/or building to appropriate person(s) for correction.

Participate in the Quality Management System (QMS) activities at assigned site and adhere to the processes related to accomplishing the site's QMS goals.

Participate in Learning Center Safety Management System (SMS) activities including: supporting and promoting the safety culture, reporting all aviation safety-related issues via the feedback system, and adhering to the processes related to accomplishing SMS goals.

Support FlightSafety International's, and its subsidiaries', commitment to ethical behavior by basing our priorities on lawful and ethical conduct as we deal with co-workers, Customers, vendors and others in all of our operations.


Prioritize workload on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Attend, facilitate and/or research training to increase skills applicable to job position and workplace issues.

Maintain supplies in kitchen area.

Prepare and arrange seating arrangements for meetings and special presentations; act as liaison regarding electrical needs, etc.; return room to original condition after event.

Maintain all company automobiles: perform all preventative care, keep fueled, clean, etc.

Other duties, as required by the Manager, FTD or Center Management.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.


High school diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency (G.E.D. - demonstrated satisfactory performance in the General Educational Development Testing Program) with two to three (2-3) years' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Technical Experience:

Ten (10) years' overall electrical experience in high and low voltage-building circuitry.

Ten (10) years' overall HVAC experience with refrigeration recovery certification.


Valid Driver's License, where applicable.

Must have current HVAC licensing/certification and be able to present it when asked.

Up-to-date licenses and certifications for electrical and plumbing, preferred.


Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; able to speak, understand, read and write

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to interact with various levels of management in a professional manner

Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations

Able to work unsupervised, as needed

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and city/state codebooks

Ability to change out air-conditioning compressors and install system clean-up kits

Ability to read and interpret all phases of building blue prints and various systems schematics


Knowledge of and ability to use basic shop tools, i.e. drills, hammers, wrenches, etc. Note: Tools are provided by and are the property of FlightSafety International. Requisition of new tools or replacement tools must be approved in advance by Manager, FTD or Center Manager.
