Job Title: Concrete Construction Worker

Department: Public Works/Field Operations
Position is CONTRACT through reSOURCE Government Services NOT directly with the County

Hourly Rate: DOE
Full Time
MUST be able to pass criminal background, drug testing and MVR check

SUMMARY:
Skilled manual labor in the performance of concrete construction for the Public Works Department.
In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee may be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Forms and pours concrete.

Performs concrete work including demolition, forming, grinding and finishing.

Performs excavation related to concrete construction.

Reviews and evaluates roadways and sidewalks for safety hazards and prepares required records/reports.

Follows standard operating procedures, observes safety practices and reports potential safety hazards.

Inspects trucks, tools and equipment.

Ensures the maintenance of trucks, tools and equipment.

Builds forms for use in concrete construction.

Assists in placement and finishing of concrete.

Performs general cleanup before and after concrete forming and pouring, which may consist of but is not limited to trimming hedges and trees, cutting of grass, repairing sprinkler systems.

Operates equipment and trucks utilized in the construction and maintenance of concrete structures including but not limited to front end loaders, dump trucks, trailers, tractors and mowers.

Performs maintenance of traffic.

Assists other Public Works Divisions as assigned.

Follows safe working practices and procedures.

Records time and material used on various projects.

Works with underground construction crews.

Performs work related to this job description as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of concrete construction and finishing.

Knowledge of hand and power tools and equipment used in maintenance and concrete construction work.

Knowledge of occupational hazards connected with laboring work.

Ability to perform rough carpentry work.

Ability to learn methods of maintaining equipment and tools.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction.

Ability to perform strenuous laboring tasks and lift up to one hundred (100) pounds under varying weather conditions.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors, other employees and the general public.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and one (1) year experience in performing concrete construction.

Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License.

Possession of a valid Florida CDL-B with a tank vehicle endorsement and no restrictions on air brakes is preferred at time of hire.

Must obtain CDL-B with tank vehicle endorsement and no restriction on air brakes within ninety (90) days of hire.

Ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 20 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds to constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Ability to perform manual tasks and remain on feet for extended periods of time
